I think there's probably 5 trades in the works. Problem is, the other GM's know Bob is going a little crazy right now and they don't want to make a deal unless they can take him.

Lol. "problem is, we have like 20 guys who are good guys to have on the 4th line" The Bob's speciality. Bob's... It's like the big boy never left.

Hey, look who's back. I like Grant as a forth line guy. Didn't understand why they let him walk at the price he commanded. So, was this part of the Pettersson deal ?

Seven and closing. At least the Ducks are competing in one manner..

We shouldn't settle for 10th. We need a top 3-4.

I get your point. We're not going forward with Randy if a quicker game is in our future.

Treading water. That's all we're doing now. Perry's contract is crap. Ducks aren't going to buy him out. The closer it gets to the end, the easier it will be to unload him. And, you never know. He could be better when he comes back. Kesler has been worse. But I think Perry is far enough down that he's more likely to get better than worse. Kesler is still wait and see (well, I haven't totally given up on him yet... yet). But, it can't be seen positively. Getzlaf doesn't score goals. The state of our three biggest contracts. We're not going anywhere. They're just riding it out. I wouldn't fire Randy either if I was Bob. What's the point. Fix what you can on the team. Ride the big contracts out a ways. Keep an eye out for a better coach. I don't know how well Bob will be able to make it work. But it's the direction that makes the most sense. And if it's the coaching that's making us tank, I guess we'll have a better shot at Hughes ( In case someone hasn't noticed, we're a lot closer to the worst record in hockey than we are to third place in the division.)

Oh, and I wouldn't trade Lindholm, Montour or would I have traded Pettersson. Fowler is maxed out on who he is going to be. Overpaid - trade him. Pettersson could have become the muscle that Manson is and will be a better player. Also overpaid - trade him. Larsson is not showing much with this organization. When Randy turns on a guy, you might as well send him somewhere he has a chance - trade him. Welinski has no value. Wasn't he supposed to be a scoring defensive player ? Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade all three of them. But they would be the ones who would be available. You know, the reason Pittsburgh has managed to do so well despite having no better draft picks than us, is probably because they evaluate talent at the NHL level a lot better than us. I think they stole Pettersson.

The problem with your plan is they would keep the same GM. Murray has probably capped out, reached his ceiling on what he is capable of putting together. A rebuild with him would probably just get you more of what we've had the last 8-10 years. !0 years seldom lies. He is who he's been because he doesn't have the ability to change (much, enough). Speaking of change. Has anyone else come to the conclusion that 'playing faster' has been given up on. Cuz, I'm not seeing even much of an effort to go there. Are we back to the same old Randy and Bob style hockey. You know, the way they played back in the day when there were real hockey players.

Bishop was a mess. He was so far out of position a couple times, it was hard to believe he was playing in the NHL. Our sloppy play was the only thing that kept it from being a rout early on.

Yeah, everybody has their strengths. The guys value will tend to increase with the ability of Ritchie and the coaches to put him into a role that uses those strengths. So far they’ve tended to fail by placing him in roles requiring quick, intelligent thinking. As far as future contracts, I think Ritchie’s best contract will be a bad contract (for the organization he’s with). Certain types of guys tend to get complacent and revert to their comfort zone when they get their big contract. To me, Ritchie seems like that kind of guy. And, his comfort area is not a good place - stupid play; stupid penalties; and playing like he’s a puck handling, shooting forward.
