Is it top late to make Cowart a RP as well as utility if?

No, but so far the organization hasn't tried to have him do both, which I find strange. Maybe they were still holding out hope that he'd be A position player worthy of a starting gig.

I'd to see them give it a shot this winter. Granted, I don't think he'll be touching 97 on the mound like he did in high school, but I bet with some conditioning he could get back up to 92-93 consistentl. A fantastic arm.

But ultimately the decision is his. The team may want him to do something but if he doesn't feel like it's in the best interest of his career, then he wouldn't.

He has had plenty of at bats.  He needs to realize that's his best option because he cant hit well enough to be a starter.

Over the weekend, I saw one of Cowarts throws from third to first, and my thought was.....wow what an arm.  He could be a nice BP option.  He could be a defensive specialist/BP guy.

Umm...27 lb weight gain in three months isn't good. It is very difficult to pack on that much muscle that quickly, so either he's getting fat or he's on gear, or both.

Do you remember how easy it was to attain results when you were 18 or 19?

9 LB of muscle per month is certainly possible...you're jumping to rash conclusions. Even if it's not ALL muscle, he wouldn't be saying that himself if it wasn't a useful weight gain.

Very possible. But then again, hes young enough that his test is still naturally very high. If hes hitting the gym hard, and his diet is right (with enough over the counter help, like weight gainer protein and creatine), its not impossible.

Not to mention, if hes pushing hard to gain weight, along with the musle, hes also packing on some marbling....so if hes not careful, he will build mass, but will also need to cut eventually.

When I first enlisted, I tacked on 20 pounds of muscle in under 4 months, but then started shooting for the 300 pft which led to a lot more cardio. But the body transformation between age 17 and age 21 was unreal, and that's without the benefit of professional instruction or specifically targeting areas that he's undoubtedly focusing on.

I have no problem believing English did this in the best way possible. I think even without physical training, the change from an adolescent body to a fully developed man body in those years is pretty remarkable. But if you take an elite athlete like English, make it his job and give him the instruction to do it, yeah absolutely, the results will be pretty stark.

Fair enough. I don't want to accusing English, and i forgot that he's just 17. There's a lot of natural growth there so no reason to assume he's on gear.

This is what happens when you take Fat Trout jokes too far.... :D

After putting on 45 LBS before my freshman year, I put on 15 lbs each summer until I was 22. And that was while I was an avid runner.

Of course, I started putting weight on again when I was 25, but that wasn't the good kind.
