I don't understand the ongoing fascination with Kaleb Cowart.  I really don't.

After all these years, haven't we seen enough to just move on?  Some guys don't make it.

For all the fans fired up about bringing back for another shot, have you purchased your "Hillary 2020" bumper sticker yet?

How many innings pitched did he have in the Angel's organization?

Seattle had the right idea about trying to make him a reliever and backup infielder.

How many games did he catch?  With that great arm. . .

Just because I've wanted him to be a two way player all along, I say yeah, definitely claim Cowart. He can play utility infielde, corner outfielder and give you an extra arm in the bullpen. Cowart adds a TON of flexibility to the roster. I'd have little issue with cutting ties with Noe Ramirez or Jesus Castillo. While I like both of them, Ramirez was hit pretty hard due to overuse or extended outings last year, and Castillo, as great as he looked before, last year his velocity dropped a solid 4 mph and even when he recovered two of those ticks back, he was still rocked pretty hard in the AFL.

The upside of Cowart on the team could pay off more than another mediocre performance from a middl reliever, or a kid who won't be more than a swing starter if he doesn't start throwing harder.

And Eppler does loves pitchers who throw 95+... Cowart has that kind of an arm I believe.

damn that 2010 draft was a disaster.

@Chuckster70 you've got to find a way to ask Bane who he would have drafted had he been driving the bus.  (assuming the rumors were true that Reagins took over).

@Dochalo, you might uncover something from Eddie Bane in our "Archives (2006-2010)

If he is claimed does he have to stay on the 25 man roster since he is out of options? If he clears wavers wouldn't Seattle just keep him on MiLB contract in AAA?

If he's claimed then yes, he has to stick on the 25.  If he clears, then he becomes a free agent.

seems like he claimed the 2010 draft at the time but thought we heard after the fact that he was forced into several of those picks.

he's an awesome guy.  those chats were one of the main reason I ended up being so in to the Angels farm system.

he knew that most of the guys we were talking about weren't going to make it, but he always had positive things to say about them.  Gave us all some good things to think about.  To this day I try to think the same way.

Would love to see us get Swanson in here for a chat.  I know the current regime is pretty tight lipped but he'd have to be better than Wilson.

Hi @Dochalo, thanks man. Those were absolutely good times!

A couple years after Eddie Bane moved on to the Red Sox he came back for one more chat. (btw, we still keep in contact so I can bring him back for another one anytime.)

Here's what he had to say about Tony Reagins, Mike Trout and more in his last chat with us.

I presume he's still with Boston.  Didn't realize his brother is the CEO for trader joe's.

Bring him back any time as long as he wants to talk about halo prospects and not the chowds. 😛

I believe I should be sleeping with Emmanuel Chriqui, so Emmanuel Chriqui believes she should be sleeping with me.

Now, if you'll excuse me., I'm about to blast off.

The reason the Angels put him on waivers in the first place is because they wanted him to work on pitching in the minors and he’s out of options.

Since this is his first time being DFA’d I don’t believe he has a right to refuse an outright, so if he clears waivers, he’ll stay with the M’s as a minor leaguer.

Keeping him in the majors to work on pitching seemed like a tough thing all along, so perhaps this was the M’s plan. Claim him just to get him, then DFA him later in the winter to keep him in the minors.

I don't think anyone is suggesting we try him at catcher.  He was a high pitching prospect out of High School.  The idea of giving developing him as a pitcher on a minor league contract make sense.

Is he not a minor league free agent?  I am not sure how this all works.
