Seriously what logic is there to sit Upton.  Does he need a rest after those 9 inning he has played in the first three months of the season ?

Kind of a head-scratcher for sure.

I mentioned the other day that I was surprised they were playing Upton at all in this series.

Also, if the turf is so awful there, why doesn’t MLB step in and make them use a surface that doesn’t grind players down.  This all seems very dumb.

The turf in Toronto is wicked. Best to be cautious where possible. Upton may just need to have a game off and get his body re-familiarized with the nine inning routine. Sort of like spring training again for him in terms of muscle and joint litheness and fluidity. Seems like his eyes and hands are ready but no point pushing him at this point. Especially against a weak team.

Pretty sure the Upton thing was planned from the get go due to turf,  im ok with that.  There some curiousness in that lineup though... or perhaps im over thinking the trade season approaching.
Remember, if im not mistaken there are no august waiver trades this year so get em done by end of July or dont this year.

Maybe today is the day that Tyler Skaggs manages a quality start.

Lol good one. I’m guessing Nero will keep Skaggs 1 inning too long

Didn't they call Upton's injury "turf toe"? Probably wise to limit the toe's exposure to plastic turf on concrete.

Yep, turf toe is a serious injury. I feel like the name doesn’t do it justice

It’s absolutely one of the worst injuries for a baseball player.  People acting like Upton was being a pussy or whatever were being dumb about it.
